Annes's Cats

Anne Edney has been showing cats since 1997, breeding British and in recent years adding Bombays and Asian Selfs to the repetoire. Pictured here are Dylan (Pr Rocadanne Charlie Chaplin, 72b) and his sister Poppy (Rocadanne Blackpoppy, 72), born of Alderniti Lillyofthevalley (72) and sired by Wythridge Bruno (72b).

Vivienne's Cats

Vivienne Rice has a bombay girl, Helen, bred by Jon Trotter. Helen (I Gr Ch Trotkatz Dark Enchantress, 72) was recently the second Asian Self to gain an Imperial Grand title and the first entire Asian to do so. Here are some pictures of Helen, along with several cats bred or owned by Viv.

Founding Fathers

The cat pictured below is Adreesh Black Sabu, who was important in the early development of the Bombays. Sabu himself was 3rd Generation and was bred by Mrs Liz Wilcox from her queen, Black Midget (72) and Ch Tapawingo Tahltan (27). Midget was the daughter of Lochibank Thomas (72), who was himself the son of Bagpuss and Belcanto Duchess Elsa (27). Mrs Wilcox parted from Sabu after his mating with Adreesh Piyada and he ended up eventually with Jacki McCarten, to whom thanks for providing this information.

The Cats of Markus and Tamsin

Markus Barth and Tamsin Jones are new to pedigree cats and at the National Cat Club Show 2001 were running the rule over different cat breeds, not knowing quite what they were looking for beyond a cuddly, lovable and fun-to-be-with cat. Of course this means that they found the Bombays! In the spring they took in two kittens, Chinkara Black Bob (72, MN,  "Bob" or "Barrie" to his friends) and Chinkara Black Liquorice (72, MN,  "Pointy" to his friends).

These two are from the same litter and are really hard to tell apart (you have to wonder if they do this deliberately as it's normal twin behaviour – and it is just like Bombays to play tricks!). Bob and Pointy were bred by Carolyn Clark (Chinkara) and born on 4th June 2001, their parents being UK Gr Ch Moongazer Silver Mithras (27c, M) and Gr Ch Chinkara Black Bombazine (72, F, "Bess" to her friends).

Hello. Yes, we're fine, thanks. You?   Quiet, isn't it?

Coralie's Cats

Coralie Lewsey owns a very successful Black Tortie Self bred by Sheena Cook. Gr Pr Adversane Black Lace (72e, FN, "Libby" to her friends) has, in her relatively short career so far, won eighteen Premier certificates and ten Grand Premier Certificates (as well as three reserve Grand awards) – an excellent ambassador for the breed.

The cats of Rosie and Barrie

Rosie Alger-Street (Typha) has not only bred and judged Burmese for several years, she and her husband Barrie have been at the forefront of Bengal development as well. For us, though, she is best known for creating her own line of Bombays and Asian Selfs completely different to everyone else's, although nevertheless observing our basic principle of not using Burmilla-based stock. The pictures below are of just some of the many selfs Rosie and Barrie have bred, including lilac stud Carlos (Ch Typha Masterclass, 72c) who has done very well at shows and was recently made up to Champion.

Doris' Cats

Well it had to happen – after several years of moggies and Burmese half-peds, Doris Howe has taken on a Lilac Asian Self kitten bred by Carol Webb. This little lady's name is Ineluki Syringa Superba, 72c or "Siri" as she is known to her friends.

The Cats of Tom and Margaret

Tom and Margaret Sergeant (Tomarans) had been pedigree dog judges and breeders for years but then they "saw the light" and added cats to the roster! They started with exotics and have now discovered the beauty of Bombays, in the form of Pattie (Onika Black Aislinn, 72) pictured below with her first litter.

Beate's Cats

Beate Kubitz' cat had a litter some time ago that included a Bombay girl, known to her friends as Beryl. Here she is keeping watch over her home. Beate's previous article on the joys (and strife) of new-born kittens can be found here.

The Cats of Francis & Sue

Francis and Sue Sketch (Hurtlepuss) are not breeding Selfs at this time, but have kindly sent photos of some of their cats, including Jessie (Addeish Onika Black Jessamine, 72): mother of the award-winning Danny (Gr Ch Hurtlepuss Black Adonis, 72) who is featured in Carolyn's Cats elsewhere on this page.

Cindy's Cats

Cindy Jackson has had cats before but is new to Bombays and has found out quickly just what a lively breed they are! Cindy describes her experience of being "owned by a Bombay" here. Pip (Trotkatz Lunar Boy, 72) was originally intended as company for her other cat Cato, an F2 Bengal, but like all Bombays, Pip has a huge personality and quickly installed himself as the boss, even as a kitten.

Cindy is, amongst other things, a professional photographer and as well as sending us these pictures of Pip, she also has ten useful hints for photographing cats correctly, including examples of how you can use the resulting photographs.

Jon's Cats

Jon Trotter (Trotkatz), the Club President, has been breeding and showing cats for some years now. Jon spends a lot of tome stewarding and recently qualified as a probationer Judge. He describes his experiences in the Fancy here. Below are just some of the many cats owned or bred by Jon plus a few others that he has passed on photos of.

Murphy's kittens include the red and black-tortie kittens pictured on the right plus Pip (in "Cindy's Cats"). He's a busy boy!

Bess is pictured here at four months old and along with another brother, Jet (Bess photo by Barry Newcombe).

Michele's Cats

Michele Robinson (Beullaga) has an Asian Blue Self called Bhoona (Bishopston Hippolytae, 72a), who gave birth in March 1999 to three kittens. Pictured alongside Peshwari (Onika Black Peppin, 72), Michele's Bombay male neuter, is one of these kittens: Cocoa (Beullaga Cocoa Kaluha, 72b), an Asian Chocolate Self. Cocoa is now living the high-life as a well loved pet in Australia! Shown below these two is Bhoona's second litter born last year. The sire was Jaspurra Bonsai Panther, 27b: a chocolate Burmese carrying blue, while Bhoona carries chocolate. The kittens consist of a blue self, a chocolate self, a lilac variant and two chocolate variants.
