Annual General Meeting for 2009

Our AGM for the year 2009 was held on 4th October.

The Bombay and Asian Self Breed Club is the specialist breed club dedicated to the advancement and welfare of the UK Bombay and related self colour cats of Burmese type. The distinguishing features being a sleek short coat, sound to the roots with beautiful golden eyes.

The Bombay (GCCF breed number 72) is a solid jet black cat, with magical golden eyes. It is the nearest cat genetically possible to a "Black Burmese". The Bombay comes under the Foreign section and is one of the five breeds within the Asian Group. The Asian Group as a whole is represented by the Asian Group Cat Society, the Asian Cat Association and the Bombay and Asian Self Breed Club.

The Bombay and Asian Self Breed Club was started in August 1995 by a group of breeders and owners of Bombays and Asian Selfs (including the Torties). Since the most recent Annual General Meeting, held in July 2000, there are over 100 members from both Great Britain and abroad. On 27th October 1999 the club was granted affiliation to the GCCF and at the same Council meeting, the Asian Selves were awarded Championship Status from June 2000.

The main objective of the club is to serve the interests and promote the welfare of all Bombay and Asian Self Cats and in doing so, promote correct breeding practices and general well being. Additionally, the club endeavours to serve its members by disseminating information on development, as well as informing and educating the general public. The club newsletter Spectrum Seventy Two is produced annually and is continuously searching for new material. Please contact Sharon Keenan (Newsletter Editor) if you are interested in submitting an article.

The Officers and Committee are striving to enhance communication between all breeders and in particular, wish to offer help and advice to newcomers, whether they be exhibiting, breeding or owning these lovely cats as pets. If you wish to know anything not covered here then please contact Jacki McCarten (Hon. Secretary) for general enquiries, Deborah Laugher (Membership Secretary) for membership enquiries and Martin Howe (Webmaster, Kitten Registrar) for queries about available kittens or about the web site itself or Jacki McCarten (Hon. Secretary) for Bombay or Asian Self rehoming queries in the United Kingdom.
