We invite members to send to the webmaster any good news from or reports of events that occurred at cat shows and would especially would like to hear from exhibitors about the achievements of their Asian Self & Tortie cats, so that we can see how well the breed is progressing. Please give the cat's pedigree name, pet name, breed number, sex, entirety and the name of the exhibitor plus the name of the breeder, if different. For each class in which an award was made, please specify the class name (exactly as used at that show), the result (including IC, BOB, etc) and the name of the judge. If part or all of a cat's title appears in parentheses, this means that the cat had gained that title by the date of the show, but was entered before gaining that title, in which case the title would not appear in the show catalogue.

The Show Results are only as complete as the information that we receive, so please would members take care to supply all the requisite information. After all, it is your cats that we are promoting! Please note the exhibitor is usually the breeder of the cat. Where this is not so, the name of both breeder and owner will be given. If a number of cats in a class is given, this refers to the number actually present and competing.

Please note that Caramel coloured cats will be suffixed "an" or "cn" where their base colour is known (a=blue-based, c=lilac-based) although this is not yet official terminology. In the same way, this page uses designations such as FK (female kitten) and MKN (male kitten neuter) to complement the existing codes F (female adult [entire]), MN (male [adult] neuter), etc.; these terms are not official GCCF terminology but are used here for clarity.

If you would like your name (as appearing in the results table) to be web-linked to your entry in the "Breeders" page, if applicable, or to your personal website or email address, then please ask, giving any details that we don't already have. Furthermore if you have photographs of your cat at a show where they have won something, then we will consider posting these on the site – let us know.

Saturday 25th November 2000: The GCCF Supreme Cat Show

The Bombay and Asian Self Breed Club had several cats at the Supreme Show, including Gr Pr Chinkara Onemanband (72, M, "Harry" to his friends), who was there on exhibition in his official capacity as last years' Supreme Provisional Breed Exhibit.

The Club wishes many Congratulations to:

Thanks to all who entered and especially to Sheena Cook who created the club table and supplied the two lovely kittens that we had on exhibition (Adversane Allblack , 72, MK) and (Adversane Black Isis , 72, FK). Thanks also to Chris Cook, Michele Robinson, Carol Webb and Martin Howe for much assistance too varied to list here.

Finally, congratulations to Carolyn Clark for winning the Club's Best Decorated Pen competition with her "tarot cards" take on the Millennium Predictions theme.

Here's to next year!

FIRST ASIAN SELF GRAND TITLE

Saturday 21st October 2000: Chinkara Onemanband becomes the first Grand Premier Asian Self

Today at the Kentish Cat Society show, Pr Chinkara Onemanband (72, M, "Harry" to his friends) was awarded his third grand premier certificate, making him the FIRST Asian Self cat to become a Grand – our first Grand Premier! Not only did Harry make Premier in 3 consecutive shows, he did this in three consecutive shows as well. He was also one of the first two Premiers as well, and has made Grand in three straight shows. To complete a great day for Carolyn, Harry's dad Hurtlepuss Black Adonis (72, M, "Danny" to his friends) was made up to Champion on the same day.

Many many congratulations to Carolyn, Harry and Dan.

(Reporter: Martin Howe)

Saturday 23rd September 2000

Congratulations to Onika Black Aislinn (72, F, "Pattie" to her friends) and her son Tomarans Starless Night (72, M) for their recent show successes. Owned by Tom and Margaret Sergeant, Pattie has been show twice and won a first and CC on each showing (South Western Counties, 23rd September 2000 and Chester & North Wales, 12th August 2000 ).Starless Night was shown at the Wyvern (9th September 2000) where he won 1st in his kitten class.

FIRST ASIAN SELF CHAMPION

Saturday 19th August 2000: Chinkara Black Bombazine gains her 3rd CC!

Today at the Three Counties Cat Society show, Chinkara Black Bombazine 72, F, "Bess" to her friends) was awarded her third challenge certificate, making her the FIRST entire Asian Self cat to become titled – our first Champion!

Bess is sister to Chinkara Onemanband (72, MN, "Harry" to his friends, who was one of the first Asian Self Premier cats – see Stop Press for 5th August 2000), so I suppose we should have expected it somehow! Bess, like Harry, was bred and is owned by Carolyn Clark. I said after Eastern Counties, "I wonder who the first Champion will be..." – now we know.

Many congratulations to Carolyn and Bess! The two "first premiers" also won another PC each at this show, so things are going very well for us right now.

(Reporter: Martin Howe)

FIRST ASIAN SELF PREMIERS

Saturday 5th August 2000: Chinkara Onemanband and Adversane Black Lace gain 3rd PC each!

Today, a momentous occasion occurred in the development of the Asian Self cats. At the Eastern Counties Cat Club show, Chinkara Onemanband (72, MN, "Harry" to his friends) and Adversane Black Lace (72e, FN, "Libby" to her friends) were both awarded their third premier certificate, making them the FIRST Asian Self cats to become titled – our first Premiers!

Bombay Harry was Supreme Provisional Breed Exhibit 1999 (like his father the year before) and was bred and is owned by Carolyn Clark. Tortie Libby was bred by Sheena Cook and is owned by Coralie Lewsey.

It has taken a long time since Pat Impson started the original Bombay lines and other breeders joined in with the other colours and so forth – but here we are. I said after East Sussex: "maybe the first Asian Self Champion might be a Tortie" – well, I was partly right! I wonder who the first Champion will be...

Many congratulations to Carolyn, Coralie, Sheena –and of course, to the cats!

(Reporter: Martin Howe)

FIRST ASIAN SELF OVERALL BEST IN SHOW

Saturday 8th July 2000: Trotkatz Dippledapple has done it again!

East Sussex Cat Club today held their first Championship show and present on show was Jon & Alison Trotter's Trotkatz Dippledapple , a full-expression Asian black Tortie on her first show since the Selfs/Torties attained Championship Status.

Not content with winning our informal "Best On Exhibition" at the Asian Group BAC seminar in May, Peanuts (as her friends know her) not only won a first prize on her first championship outing, but a CC and BOB as well.

However, even that was small beer to what came next: of the club's officers and committee members, Martin Howe, Carol Webb and of course Jon himself, were fortuitously present to witness Peanuts not only win Best In Show Foreign – but beat some champions and grand champions for Best In Show Overall!

This is a first for an Asian Self – and as far as we know for any Asian group cat – and it really does prove that the breed has arrived. Here's hoping for our first Champion soon! In fact, on the same day at the Lincolnshire show, Adversane Black Pepper (F, 72e) and Adversane Black Lace (FN, 72e) both gained their second certificates, so who knows, maybe the first Asian Self Champion might be a Tortie.

(Reporter: Martin Howe)
